Episode 04 - Roleplaying - 2/8

Nodding, Sai found his smile and forced it back into place. He'd have a chance to save Raidon, but only if he delivered this letter to General Yamato. Sai told himself it was probably just a deranged ultimatum, and he wouldn't let Ghost-Eye surprise him again. An Agent could only complicate things further.

"Of course," he lied, "I'd be glad to." He couldn't refuse her, but he felt the deception too bald. He had noticed she had cutting eyes, and had learned to mix in small truths to ease the passage of his lies. "I just hadn't expected to see an Agent here," he continued, which was certainly true, if an understatement. He handed her the card and she ran it through a palmpad.

"Aren't you a little old for a courier?" she asked as the card was processed, looking back out at the rail station. "I mean, you're built more like a soldier," she said, returning her eyes to his.

Sai didn't like the question.

"And you're too lovely for an Agent," he returned. However she took it, thought Sai, flattery would change the subject. And he'd be telling the truth.
